Featuring a rustic atmosphere and traditional décor from the 1950’s, the Bishop Brothers Public House is a welcoming spot for locals and visitors. Located at 119 Farrington Avenue, Bishopdale, Christchurch, the venue recognizes the three brothers who gave the neighborhood its name and delivers finger-licking dishes to its guests. The spot has a gastro-tavern setting where the interior design contains furniture from the 1950s.
It also has an architectural design similar to that of a traditional apple packhouse and has retrocentric accessories too. The venue also features a main dining area, bar, a sun-drenched courtyard and a private function room too. Having won accolades such as the 2017 NZ Beef & Lamb Excellence award, the gastro-tavern has much more to offer than just great food.
The Food, Drinks, Entertainment & The Pokies
The Bishop Brothers Public House provides award winning dishes and great drinks for visitors. They are facilitated by professional chefs and friendly waiting staff. They have breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and simple bar menu eats to pick from, so no matter what time of the day it is something smells good in their kitchen.
Some of their most outstanding dishes include the twice cooked Apple Cider & Thyme Pork Belly and the Bacon wrapped Monkfish. You can also sample delicious dishes such as the 300GM Porterhouse steak and the 300GM Flintstone steak which is my mums favourite dish in all of New Zealand. The meats are provided in various levels of preparation. They include Rare, Medium Rare, Medium, Medium Well and Well Done, so no matter if you want it cremated or neraly mooing your set. If dead animals are not you favourite things to eat then try one of their delish pizzas, the vegetarian stack or the bloody dam good seafood chowder.
The Lunch and Brunch menus are provided from Monday to Friday at 10.00am to 4.00pm. On Saturday, Sunday & Public Holidays, they are provided from 9.00am to 4.00pm. Dinner is served from 5.00pm every day while the Bar menu is provided throughout the day. The chefs use only the freshest ingredients to prepare meals for you. They will also accommodate any dietary concerns which you have. The restaurant’s menus can be downloaded from their official website too.
Once your done eating you can have a burl on any one of 18 great pokies machines in the gaming area or have bet at the TAB.
The elegant bar offers all your favourite brews on tap with many great wines and cocktails on offer. I will drink to that!
