About the Blockhouse Bay Bowling Club
The bowling club has approximately 150 men and women as playing members, 60 social members, making the club one of the most active clubs in the Auckland area. It has outdoor lawn type bowling greens which are extremely popular among all those who visit the club.
The club has a large verandah which is overlooking the bowling area. During summer it is holding bowling competitions on weekends, and the winners are eligible to participate the Auckland centre, and National bowling championships. It is also holding inter-club competitions on Saturdays and open tournaments, where members can participate on a first come, first serve basis.
Many business, families and event organizers are hiring the club for holding their private functions, get together, team building exercises, meetings or other events. The club has a total capacity of 387 people and has a lounge, dining hall, kitchen and bar. The event organizer can either hire the hall or lounge or both depending on the number of people who will be attending the event. The rental rates depend on the duration for which the club is hired, the rates are specified for two hours, 3-5 hours and 5-8 hours with the rates for the rates varying from $300 to $800 if both the areas are hired.
The time taken to set up and pack up is included in the hire period. The lounge also has pool tables and gaming machines. The bar is also available for hire, and the bar rental fee, also depends on the number of people who will attend the event, with higher rentals charged if more than 100 people are using the bar.
For kitchen use a flat fee between $50 to $80 is charged. The BBQ can be hired for $50 for the entire event. The guests at the function can play bowls, and the charges are $10 per person. Cleaning charges are $50 per hour. Catering for the event can be arranged if required.

A fully appointed Bar is open from early afternoon every day and evening serving a wide selection of great beers, awesome wines, spirits and some basic bar snacks and eats. Some days have special meal deals like the sample below.
Members of the club have to pay the membership fee which becomes due on September first every year. The annual fee for full playing members is $180, and first year members have to pay a discounted fee of $90. Associate and casual members have to pay a fee of $60, social members have to pay a much lower fee of $30 and students pay an annual fee of $20.
There is a nomination fee of $10, which is deductible from the other fee paid. Numerous payment methods like EFT POS, cash, pay in person or transfer to bank account are accepted. Members are expected to pay the annual fee within one month of renewal date.
