About the Kismet Cocktail & Whisky Bar Nelson
The bar has a very stylish interiors and a hip atmosphere. To entertain the visitors they have in house performer Bo and Rosa who play songs on their guitar. They also have special music on Fridays with the Friday Funk beats. Disc Jockeys like DJ Tunesifter and DJ Serpico, select the music to ensure that all the customers at the bar have a good time. Other musicians who have performed at the bar are the jazz musicians Madi Fulton Buckle who is also a songwriter, who was accompanied by the guitarist Dean for her jazz performance. The magician Nico Muto from Peru also performed various popular magic tricks at the bar in a free magic show.
One of the reasons why Kismet is extremely popular among the office goers in the area and other customers is the wide range of whiskys and other alcoholic drinks, beverages which are available at the bar. Kismet claims that it has the largest range of whiskies available in Nelson. Most bars do not stock exotic whiskies like Mezcal (from Latin America) yet it can be found at the bar.
The bartenders are extremely friendly and will provide the customers the drinks how they prefer. Whiskey related events like “Introduction to Scotch Whisky ” organized by Whisky Galore, have been also held at the cocktail bar in March 2019. More events will be happening like this one.
Let’s Have a Cocktail or Two 🙂
The bar is extremely popular for its creatively named cocktails. Bespoke signature cocktails are available on special occasions. For example when Ali Harper performed at the Theatre Royal Nelson, the special cocktail Rhubarba Streisand , which included a peacher was available. Discounts were available for those who attended the event if they showed their ticket. The Rhubarb sour is a summer drink which combines a sour, citrus and sweet taste which my sister say’s is the best cocktail in all of New Zealand.
The banana colada (must try) is the new version of the Tiki classic, which combines rum, coconut, pineapple, banana with mint leaves. Twist of fate is another cocktail combining whisky, yellow Chartreuse and Dolin rouge.
Additionally a cocktail making competition sponsored by the Dancing Sands Distillery was also held at the cocktail bar in the past as one of the regular happenings of mention.
The location of the bar makes it a popular hangout for those working in the offices in the area, they usually visit it after work with their friends and colleagues. The bar is also suitable for holding functions and events. Most of the customers who have visited the cocktail bar are extremely happy since they enjoyed themselves and the large variety of cocktails that were available at fair prices. The staff is very friendly and is offering good service to the customers from what we noted in our review.
