ANZAC recognition

In solidarity with many other clubs all over New Zealand, the Tokoroa Club also observes and respects the ANZAC tradition. They take the time to remember the fallen heroes who lost their lives in the Gallipoli Campaign on 12th October 1917. Club members unite to observe ANZAC day every year on the 25th April.

History of the club

The club began in the 1940s simply as a group made up of local Tokoroa men known as the the Sports Supporters Club. After much organization, deliberation and the purchase of a $400 house, the group was officially recognized as the Tokoroa Club in December 1946.

The 1950s saw dramatic expansion of the club with the club rooms getting constructed in 1957. By 1959, construction was complete and the finishing touches on club rules, governing regulations and legal documents were performed. Modern technological devices such as computers and sports screens were added in the 1990s to form the establishment known and loved by it’s members today.

Conclusion

With a collection of activities for its members as well as facilities for gaming, dining and refreshment, the Tokoroa Club is a unique New Zealand gem. Make sure you pay a visit if you are in the Tokoroa area.
