The Hallertau Brewery is a food and bar venue located at 1171 Coatesville-Riverhead Highway, Riverhead, Auckland 0892, New Zealand. It is an independent brewery that is set on twisting the beer traditions in order to provide new taste sensations for all its liquid loving patrons.

Over the years, the venue has been well managed and run by couple Steve and Hayley Plowman and it has also grown together with a community that keeps it very lively and also inspires new flavors that pour from the beer taps. In July 2017, the restaurant was named in Cuisine’s Top 100 New Zealand restaurants, which was a list that featured the biggest restaurants known for the Good Food Awards.

Food Menu and Beverages.

The Hallertau Brewery has a wide variety of meals that cater for all ages and all times of the day. The food menu is divided into six sections, the garden bar menu, the Hallertau platter menu, the brewery feast menu, two set menus, and the kids’ menu.

The garden bar menu consists of raw fish eats, small dishes, garden vegetables, wood-fired pizza, fish & shellfish, wood grill, and sweets.

The Hallertau platter menu consists of mixed platters such as braised beef krokets, Jalapeno poppers, beer brined pork belly, trevally pate, wood roasted broccoli, carrot & barley salad, warm olives, roasted baby kumara, 1/4 loaf of bread, and wood-fired sourdough flatbread.

Of note the brewery feast menu consists of warm Turkish bread, wood-fired grilled scotch fillet, hot glazed champagne ham, beer brined whole chicken, whole baked fish, roasted shoulder lamb, small roasted potatoes, backyard garden salad, red cabbages slaw, wood roasted vegetables, cannellini bean & pancetta cassoulet, and sweets.

The first set menu consists of marinated olives, cotta loaf with rocket chili butter, hopped beef burger, wood-fired pizza, green spaghetti, hopscotch sausage coil, carrot & barley salad, the Hallertau mess dessert, and chocolate & bread butter pudding.

The second set menu consists of cotta loaf with rock chili butter, marinated olives, chipotle braised lamb shoulder, wood-grilled gurnard, wood-fired pizza, green spaghetti, beer glazed Maryland chicken, the Hallertau mess dessert, and chocolate & bread butter pudding.

Kids’ eats menu consists of fish fingers, toasted Ruben sandwich, spaghetti, crumbed chicken burger, Duck Island toasted marshmallow ice cream, oreo & marshmallow cookie dough, vanilla ice cream, custom super sundae, and Dr. FeelGood frozen pops.

For beverages, the bar has a good choice of  their own popular beers on tap, plus bottled beers, seasonal brews, tap cocktails, wines and non-alcoholic drinks. Just ask for your favourite # in a beer from 1 to 6 and counting, what could be easier in life! Their brewery products can also be found at more than 400 bars, restaurants and bottle shops all over New Zealand.

Amenities, Brewery Tours and Events.

The Hallertau Brewery has a landscape that gives it the appearance of both a garden and a restaurant thus creating a unique environment. The outdoor area has been enclosed within tall concrete walls that manage to create an internal courtyard setting. There are also several plants located outside the courtyard. The car parks have tall hop frames surrounding it which welcome and introduce customers to the brewing process.

There are several corporate events and brewery tours and tastings hosted at this venue. The corporate event packages offer a unique experience for any group size and can also be tailored in order to ensure maximum tasting and dining experience as well as fun and games. The brewery tours and tastings give people the chance to see exactly what goes on behind the scenes of the making of Hallertau beer. The awesome Brewery Tours and beer tasting sampling costs $25 per head (available only on the weekends).

The Hallertau Brewery does not offer a TAB or pokies gaming options at present. You can play pokies just a 1 minute drive away at the Huapai Golf Club.
